The City of Newark is seeking an energetic and committed Associate Civil Engineer to perform professional civil engineering work related to the planning, review, design, construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects with a particular emphasis on Land Development.

The ideal Associate Civil Engineer (Land Development)will be an experienced, licensed civil engineer with a passion for public service and community engagement; have a strong background and comfortable with handling large-scale projects and well versed with the full range of professional and technical engineering work, including knowledge of public and private infrastructure improvement designs, civil design, hydrology and hydraulics, landscape and irrigation, subdivision maps, FEMA, NPDES, and C.3 requirements.
The ideal candidate can work independently, bringing projects to completion within established time guidelines. Is an independent thinker who takes in stride a constantly changing environment, energetic, and is an excellent communicator with the demonstrated ability to synthesize and summarize information and make effective public oral presentations. This position is ideal for a solution-oriented professional who can analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
Successful candidates should possess good interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to easily adjust to a variety of situations. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional that enjoys taking on a wide variety of projects while working closely with staff to ensure a high performing customer service-oriented work environment is maintained.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Associate Civil Engineer Salary:
Hourly - $66.44-$88.75 / Annual - $138,195.20-$167,960.00

If employee declines any or part of the City's cafeteria plan, employee may receive up to $450 cash-in-lieu per month. Any cash out will be paid to the employee in taxable compensation. Proof of medical insurance is required.
