Job Description

Currently seeking a Senior Estimator for a Commercial General Contractor located in Suffolk County, working on commercial, academic, and government projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Administration, or equivalent related work experience.

Responsibilities of the Estimator:

• Organizational skills as required to manage multiple projects
• Comprehensively analyze plans, specifications, proposals and additional documentation to prepare bid estimates.
• Review, create, submit quality estimates with detailed proposals
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, job site walk-throughs, etc.
• Must maintain professional working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and peers
• Review project data of historical labor productions, equipment and material costs
• Pre-construction activities including submittals, contract approval and job setup
• Follow-up with awarded contracts as assigned. This may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc.

Requirements of the Estimator:

• A minimum of 5 years experience working as an Estimator is required.
• Knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
• Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Quickbid or other estimating software
• Excellent communication skills – both internal and external
• Former field experience is a bonus
