We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Digital Literacy Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will help adult learners build essential technology skills that they can apply to daily life, education, and employment. You'll play a key part in helping students develop their confidence with computers, the internet, and digital tools, while also improving their English proficiency. What You'll Be Doing:
Design and Deliver Engaging Lessons: Create and implement digital literacy lessons for English language learners, focusing on fundamental computer skills such as typing, internet navigation, and file organization.
Teach Digital Tools and Online Safety: Guide students in using email, staying safe online, and mastering software like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
Assess and Support Progress: Use the NorthStar Digital Literacy Curriculum to assess student progress and help learners achieve their goals. You'll also support job applications, resume writing, and online job searches.
Personalized Instruction: Offer both one-on-one and group instruction to accommodate varying levels of proficiency. Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and make adjustments to ensure success.
Collaborate and Innovate: Work with colleagues and community partners to create learning opportunities and ensure students have the resources they need to thrive.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain the Education Department SharePoint page, organize class calendars, and manage data collection for student progress.
Who We're Looking For:
Education & Experience: You have at least a Bachelor's degree and prior experience teaching computer literacy. Adult Basic Education licensure or TESOL certification is a plus!
Language Skills: Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of an additional language is a bonus.
Tech-Savvy Instructor: You're comfortable incorporating technology into lessons and have experience with online, blended, or distance learning. Familiarity with Northstar Digital Literacy assessments is helpful.
Student-Centered Approach: You have experience working with diverse learners, particularly non-traditional students from varied educational and ethnic backgrounds. You know how to adapt your teaching style and materials to meet individual needs.
Communication & Organization: You're an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
Team Player: You enjoy collaborating with others and are open to team-teaching if needed. You're also resilient and adaptable, with a desire to continually improve and learn from feedback.
