Job Description

Fairmount Cemetery is a non-profit company that also owns Riverside Cemetery.  Riverside was established in 1876, while Fairmount was established in 1890.
Being a non-profit, all employees are considered as part of the Fairmount Family, playing an important role maintaining our mission statement of providing preeminent resources to celebrate life.

This is a new role for Riverside Cemetery that includes high-level planning of improvements and perpetual care as well as cemetery operations oversite.  Through collaborations with the President/CEO of Fairmount Cemetery, this position will conduct research and cost analysis while creating a turf transformation project, evaluating the lack of irrigation and solutions needed to improve the landscape and oversee implementation.  

A full-time, exempt position with an annual salary of $75,000 - $95,000, with a 40-hour work week. Typically Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm at Riverside Cemetery.  Hours may be adjusted to fulfill project demands when communicated with the President/CEO.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop a turf transformation project and steps to improve the landscaping.
• Oversite of remodels and improvements.
• Network with neighboring communities to gain allies and increase awareness of Riverside Cemetery.
• Create and implement cost savings and other benefits for the Cemetery.
• Ensure the operations and maintenance of the Cemetery are met proficiently.
• Manage the grounds and ensure concerns are addressed promptly.
• Assist with the oversight of outsourced maintenance contracts.
• Understanding of the burial process and location documentation.
• Knowledge and ability to perform the duties of Grounds Keepers as needed.
• Identify and implement needed repairs and maintenance.
• Work closely with the Fairmount Heritage Foundation on all events, historic preservation projects and volunteer efforts.
• Understand and enforce the Rules and Regulations of the Cemetery.
• Help ensure orderly conduct by visitors to the Cemetery.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study such as agronomy or agricultural science is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in a similar industry.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
• Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
