The Houston Marriott Westchase is one of the largest full-service Marriott hotels in Houston. We offer over 604 renovated guest rooms and more than 40,000 square feet of event space, including the 10,000-square foot Grand Ballroom, two boardrooms and 18 additional meeting rooms. Overview:

The Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking to hire a ON-CALL Bellperson/Shuttle Van Driver. 

This is a Dual role working as both the hotel Bellperson and the Shuttle Driver, driving a large van or mini-bus within a 2-mile radius of our location.

Position Summary: As the first-person guest meet, the Bellperson is the ambassador of the hotel and the brand, with high expectations that you provide exceptional service to every guest upon arrival and departure, by assisting with luggage, offering information about hotel amenities and local attractions, and ensuring a positive first impression. This role also involves driving the hotel shuttle to transport guests to and from local destinations, contributing to a seamless guest experience through attentive and courteous service.

 

Scheduling: This is a ON-CALL position that requires open availability to work various weekdays, weekends and holidays, and will include both AM and PM shifts based on business needs. The schedule will based around guest events and/or business needs. 

 

Specifically, the Bellperson/Shuttle driver role will be responsible for, but not limited to;

 

• Greeting guests upon arrival with a warm and welcoming demeanor, offering luggage cart, assisting with loading of luggage and check-in procedures.
• Escort guests to their rooms, providing information about hotel amenities and services along the way.
• Assist with loading and unloading luggage from vehicles, ensuring the safe handling of guest belongings, and answering guest questions.
• Provide information about hotel facilities and services, local attractions, dining options, and current events to enhance the guest experience.
• Manage deliveries, informing guests of packages and assisting with luggage storage.
• Assist with special events and group arrivals as needed.
• Drive the hotel shuttle van to transport guests to and from local destinations, following designated routes and strictly adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby, bell stand area, and hotel vehicles.

Supportive Functions : All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Qualifications:

• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and written.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions based on guest needs and hotel policies in a fast-paced environment and respond with a sense of urgency when needed.
• Move heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs.) in and out of vehicles repeatedly for duration of shift.
• Ability to move carts weighing between 100 and 150 lbs, throughout hotel, both inside and out.
• Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
• Frequent extending arms: reaching, twisting, pulling, bending, stooping, and ascending stairs throughout shift.
• Able to work outdoors with varying noise levels and being exposed to winter/summer temperature extremes.
• Able to stay alert and quickly identify and respond to safety concerns and emergency situations.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

• Must have a valid Class C driver’s license with at least 3 years' driving experience and a clean driving record is required.
• Ability to provide authorization for a Motor Vehicle report.

Experience

• Previous experience in the position of guest services or similar service role.

Grooming/Uniforms:

• All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
• Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
