LaSalle Network is partnering with a leading construction company in the Chicagoland area to hire a
Payroll Specialist with UKG (formerly Kronos) expertise. This
Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in managing payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processes, experience with construction industry labor practices and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Payroll Specialist Responsibilities: - Manage end-to-end payroll processes for hourly, salaried and union employees using UKG, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate payroll records in UKG, including new hires, terminations, deductions, bonuses and other adjustments
- Ensure payroll operations comply with federal, state and local tax laws, as well as industry-specific labor regulations and union agreements
- Monitor, validate and troubleshoot time-tracking data in UKG, working closely with project and site managers to ensure accurate timekeeping and address discrepancies
- Generate payroll reports, cost allocation reports and other relevant data for management, HR, and accounting teams
- Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing support and resolving payroll issues for employees in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes, implement best practices and improve efficiency in payroll operations
- Support payroll audits and conduct regular compliance checks, preparing and providing necessary documentation and reports.
Payroll Specialist Requirements: - 3+ years of payroll experience, with at least 1 year using UKG/Kronos
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field preferred but not required
- Proficient in UKG (Kronos) for payroll, timekeeping, and data reporting; experience with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting software a plus
- Understanding of construction industry labor practices, union requirements and wage and hour regulations
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll-related information clearly to employees and management
- Ability to troubleshoot payroll and timekeeping issues efficiently, especially in a construction work environment
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
