Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in employee compensation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of payroll management practices.

Location: Sandston, VA

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 8:15 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $28.00/hr

Job Duties:

  • Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for 145+ employees using third-party payroll
    systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations in all payroll
    operations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in payroll and HRIS systems (experience with
  • Dominion Payroll, iSolved, Kronos, or similar systems preferred).
    Track employee attendance, PTO, and manage the company calendar accordingly.
    Coordinate and administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life
    insurance, and disability plans.
  • Reconcile and process monthly benefits billing; manage benefit deductions in payroll.
    Handle all lien and income withholding orders in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Administer FMLA, disability, and critical illness claims.
  • Evaluate and help implement system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Serve as backup to other People Services staff when needed.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments to resolve employee inquiries and ensure
    accurate time reporting.

Payroll Specialist Requirements:

  • 5+ years of payroll experience (manufacturing/shift-based environment is a plus).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer drug screening.
