Job Description

E-Line Media is looking for an Art Intern (Paid, Part Time) to join one of our production teams working on a currently unannounced project (more details to be provided after signing an NDA). As the Art Intern you will help our team achieve the vision of our game by creating compelling and original characters and world art. You will also be a contributor to the growth, culture, and ultimate success of the project and studio. That last statement makes it seem pretty stressful, but we’re actually a rather low-key team.

Although E-Line’s headquarters are in Phoenix, we work with game development talent around the world. This position is remote with an expectation of 20-30hr per week. It is roughly 3 months in length, based on the candidate’s summer schedule. It is preferably open to candidates from the US, Canada, Central, and South America (due to time zone preferences).

As our Art Intern, you will ...

  • Work closely with the team to create inspiring, stylized, in-game art that visualizes aesthetic goals, maintains consistent direction, and supports the game's design.
  • Create 3D environment art that is beautiful, expressive, and useful for the entire game development process.
  • Quickly create simple previs models for prototyping that suggest the final art style.
  • Experiment with a variety of concepts through all phases of production, including thumbnails, sketches, character & world designs, storyboards, key art, and promotional assets.
  • Adopt and refine a visual aesthetic, while expanding it into unexplored areas.
  • Work with the Art team to research, collect, and create reference and inspirational material as necessary.

We’re looking for someone who has…

  • The ability to quickly deliver and iterate on concepts as needed by the team.
  • A strong understanding of fundamental artistic principles.
  • The ability to provide and receive critical feedback professionally.
  • An online portfolio with high-quality, varied examples of environment and/or character art would be great.
  • 2-3 years of undergraduate college experience in an art-related subject (juniors or seniors), completion of an intensive art training program, or equivalent experience.

It’s a bonus if you…

  • Have experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Love the idea of bringing new voices, perspectives, and ideas into your work.
  • Have experience or interest in user interface art.
  • Are able to provide a daily joke to the team via Slack.

Top Reasons to Work with Us

  • Make a good game that also does good out in the world.
  • Work alongside a collaborative team with years of video game industry experience, where your voice is heard and your work will be featured in a commercial video game.
  • A positive, healthy remote work environment with flexible hours. We promote a culture free from crunch.

About E-Line Media:

Hello there.

Games are fun. Games can enlighten and enhance understanding. Games can open your eyes to both new worlds and the one that is all around you.

While there are individual titles that embrace this approach, there has never been a company built from the ground-up to publish a slate of commercial impact games that fire the imagination, catalyze curiosity, explore meaningful themes, and provide gateways to new perspectives.

Originally founded in 2008, E-Line Media has always been interested in the pairing of great artistry and meaningful, relevant themes. We are applying this powerful formula to video games and this has led both to financial success but also recognized positive social impact.

Want to work for a company that is actively trying to make a difference and change the world through video games and creative storytelling? We’d love to hear from you!
