Job Description

Summit is looking to hire test prep tutors for in-home, one-on-one, and in-school group classes to serve Hartford and New Haven counties.

Overview

Founded in 1988, our team of experts has calmly, caringly, and expertly guided thousands of families through the process of preparing their students to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Today, Summit Education Group is part of Guidewell Education, a newly-formed, mission-driven company representing a range of successful legacy brands in the education space. Our family of brands includes Applerouth Education , ESM Prep , UES , and Launch Precollege Labs . Together, Summit and these brands provide a full suite of services, including academic tutoring, college counseling, executive function coaching, and test preparation to students across the world.

New tutors go through paid training to provide them with extensive knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, as well as pedagogical strategies to help tutor different types of students. We also provide regular supplemental training to help tutors stay aware of changes to both tests and pedagogy.

  • Responsible and responsive work ethic, allowing flexibility for student schedule changes.
  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel 30 minutes to students’ homes.
    • Additional compensation is provided when traveling farther.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is welcomed, but not required.
    • We offer comprehensive paid SAT/ACT training to all new tutors.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring students with Learning Differences is a plus.

Benefits

  • Starting rates:  in-person $45/hr, online $30/hr
  • Travel compensation for students over 30 minutes away
  • Frequent hourly bonus opportunities
  • Annual reviews with raise opportunities
  • Paid training
  • Self-determined schedule
  • Referral and employee discount program

Diversity and Inclusion:

We believe that diversity and inclusion enrich education and drive success. We are committed to ensuring that all people who interact with Summit--parents, students, staff, contractors, partners, vendors--are respected and valued holistically. We are committed to attracting and retaining students and staff from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences because we believe that diversity fuels innovation and education to new heights.

The Legal Stuff:

Applicants will be considered for the position on the basis of their qualifications and ability to perform the job for which they are applying.
