Job Summary:
The Lead Dog Handler will be involved daily operations at our doggie daycare and boarding facility, ensuring that all dogs receive the highest level of care, attention, and enrichment. This role requires a strong understanding of canine behavior, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to create a positive and engaging environment for both dogs and staff. The Lead Dog Handler will assist in supervising a team of dog handlers, coordinate activities, and maintain facility standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Train Staff: Lead, mentor, and train a team of dog handlers to ensure all staff members are knowledgeable in canine behavior, safety procedures, and daycare best practices.
  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily daycare and boarding activities, including feeding, exercise, and socialization of dogs, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Behavior Assessment: Monitor dog behavior and interactions, identifying any issues or needs, and addressing them appropriately to ensure a harmonious environment.
  • Safety and Health Standards: Ensure adherence to all safety and health regulations, maintain cleanliness of the facility, and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Reporting & Administration: Keep accurate records of dog evaluations and any incidents.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle any emergencies, including administering first aid when necessary or overseeing veterinary visits.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in dog handling, daycare, or boarding facilities; prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language, with the ability to manage multiple dogs in a group setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with animals and humans.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • CPR and First Aid certification for pets (or willingness to obtain).
  • Physical ability to lift and care for dogs of various sizes and provide active supervision during playtime.
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
