Job Description

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY ASSISTANT (FULL-TIME) –Pediatrics

Sun Valley Specialty Healthcare, Inc. / Totally Kids is a sub-acute facility and outpatient rehabilitation center that provides pediatric speech, occupational, and physical therapies for children from 0-19 years.

We are looking for a full-time speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA) to join our collaborative interdisciplinary outpatient team. Desirable candidates must have a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team.

SLPA Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Provides speech-language intervention under the direction of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Provides goal-directed activities designed to develop pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication.
  • Builds and maintains rapport with family members and provides parent/caregiver education
  • Develops, write, and instructs clients and families in therapy home programs.
  • Applies basic concepts of evidence-based practice.
  • Maintains treatment environment and department supplies.
  • Communicates tactfully, professionally, and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Completes documentation and billing according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of other staff members.
  • Assists in projects related to the development of clinical programs and/or the accomplishment of department goals.
  • Train new employees as needed


SLPA Position Details:

  • $29.00- $32.00 per hour
  • Full-Time hours: 30 hours per week to start, 6 to 8-hour shifts
  • Reasonable productivity expectation
  • Paid full rate for BLS/CPR and Fire certification renewals

SLPA Qualifications:

  • Required education: AA, AS, BA, or BS degree
  • Required license or certification: CA SLPA Licensure or eligible for licensure
  • Prior SLPA experience in a pediatric setting is preferred.
  • Comfortable participating as part of an interdisciplinary medical team
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
